The Crimson Tide

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football program is one of the most successful in NCAA history. Claiming 13 national championship since their start in 1892, the team was coached by legendary Hall of Fame coach Paul "Bear" Bryant from 1958 to 1982. During coach Bryant's tenure the Tide won 6 of their 8 national championships. The Tide plays their home games in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium. This natural grass stadium holds over 92,000 fans and is sold out for every game.

University of Alabama Basketball

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide Basketball program has also achieved success over the years. Although it is overshadowed by the Crimson Tide Football program, the basketball team has won SEC tournament titles as well as regular season titles. The team has had eight NCAA "Sweet Sixteen" appearances and made it to the "Elite Eight in the 2003-2004 season. Overall, the team has had a NCAA Tournament record of 20-19.

The Auburn Tigers compete in NCAA Division 1 in the Southeastern Conference. The namesake for the Heisman trophy, John Heisman coached at Auburn for four years from 1895 to 1899. The Auburn Tigers have had two Heisman Trophy winner's in their history, the first was Pat Sullivan in 1971 and the second was Bo Jackson in 1985. The Tigers play at Jordan-Hare Stadium and the stadium seats over 87,000 fans. The Auburn Tigers have won 6 SEC Conference championships and have had 11 undefeated seasons.

The Auburn Tigers basketball program also competes in the Southeastern conference.The Tigers have participated in the NCAA Tournament 8 times and have come away from the tournaments with a 12-8 record overall. The Auburn Tiger's most famous player is Charles Barkley who played on the team from 1982 through 1984

Alabama Sports Hall of Fame

If you are interested in Alabama Sports, don't miss the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame (ASHOF) in Birmingham. For 35 years the ASHOF has been open to sports enthusiasts of all ages. The ASHOF contains over 5,000 distinct sports artifacts that are on display throughout the 33,000 square foot building.

Many of the Alabama's greatest athletes are honored at the Hall of Fame. This includes Carl Lewis, Willie Mays, Joe Louis, Hank Aaron and Jesse Owens. The ASHOF also provides educational programs for children and offers the ASHOF Outreach Program. The Outreach Program is an interactive field trip available for children from the Third through Eighth Grade.

The program provides motivational inspiration for children and encourages setting high goals, perseverance visualization and Dedication and discipline.
