Fort Conde Welcome Center

The Fort Conde Welcome and Reception Center provides information to visitors regarding the events and attractions in Mobile. There is plenty of information about the most popular tourist attractions in Mobile such as the University of South Alabama, the USS Alabama Battleship, Bellingrath Gardens and National African American Archives and Multicultural Center.

Bellingrath Gardens

Bellingrath Gardens is located 15 miles outside of Mobile Alabama in Theodore. These gardens opened in 1932 and currently they are open year-round. This is a 65 acre estate with assorted blooms throughout the four seasons. During the Christmas holiday season the gardens are lighted and the camellias are blooming.

This is a self-guided tour and you will see the award winning pubic rose garden in bloom during the summertime. You may also tour the Bellingrath Home that contains its original furnishings and decor. The home is over 10,000 square feet in the style of English Renaissance.

You may also be interested in taking a cruise down the Fowl River on board the Southern Belle. While cruising along the river you will learn about the civil war history in the area and learn about the ecological systems nearby. The cruise is open between March and November.

Fort Conde Museum

The Fort Conde Museum is located near the welcome center on Royal Street in Downtown Mobile. The museum features a replica 18 th century French fort with fun guided tours and activities for all.

National African American Archives and Multicultural Center

While visiting the National African American Archives and Multicultural Center you will be able to look at portraits, artifacts and experience the history of the “Colored Carnival” There is also information and memorabilia about one of Mobile 's most famous natives, Hank Aaron.

Battleship Memorial Park

Visit one of the best Military Parks in the United States. The Battleship Memorial Park gives visitors the opportunity to walk on the deck of a real battleship. Visitors will also be able to go below in a World War II submarine. If you ever wanted to view the cockpit of combat aircraft, see tanks and planes, Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama is the place to go!
