Montgomery Visitor Center

For a good start to your journey to Montgomery, Alabama visit the Montgomery Area Visitor Center located in Union Station in downtown Montgomery. State Capitol Building

The State Capitol in Alabama is located in Montgomery and was originally built in 1847. Since that time fire and renovation has modified the original structure up until the latest modifications that took place in 1992. For many years the State Capitol building was home to the Alabama Legislature until their move to the Alabama State House in 1985.

These days the Capitol Building is maintained by the Alabama Historical Commission and is an historical tourist attraction that is free of charge.

The Dexter Avenue King
Memorial Baptist Church

Built in 1877 the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church was originally called the Second Baptist Colored Church. Two of the most notable pastors of the church was Vernon Johns and Martin Luther King Jr. This is the church where Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. preached the message of tolerance and inclusion. Dr. King was a pastor at the church until 1960 when he began his famous mission for civil rights in the United States.

Montgomery Zoo & Mann Wildlife Museum

Visit Montgomery's 40 Acre zoo in and see animals in habitats specially created to match their native land of origin. Take a ride on the Zoo train and see the wildlife, waterfalls, trees and vegetation from the comfort of a passenger car. The Zoo and Museum also sponsors educational seminars and the Mann Wildlife Learning Museum offers "touch and feel" exhibits where children of all ages can feel the fur of bears, wolves, moose and many other types of wildlife.

Alabama Governor’s Mansion

The Historic and stately Alabama Governor's Mansion was built in 1906 and has housed Alabama's Governors since 1950. The Governor's mansion is one of Alabama's unique landmarks and visitor's may tour the mansion Tuesdays and Thursdays hourly from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Please call ahead as reservations are required.

Hank Williams Memorial

Visit the final resting place of country music legend Hank Williams located in the Oakwood Cemetery Annex.

The Hank Williams Museum

Hank Williams began his music career at the age of 14 in Montgomery, Alabama. The Hank Williams Museum contains Hank Williams memorabilia including his famous 1952 Cadillac. The Museum also contains autographed records and awards received by Williams during his illustrious music career.
